Henry Claflin, R.Ac, R.TCMP
Henry Claflin is a registered acupuncturist, herbalist and tai ji quan instructor. He weaves together holistic medicine and mindful movement to guide each patient on their own path of health.
Henry fell in love with Eastern thought at 14 years old when he stumbled upon a simple one-page website on zazen meditation. Over the years, his interest expanded from philosophy to the martial arts and health practices of China and Japan.
Henry first encountered acupuncture and Eastern medicine while searching for a treatment for his migraines. He understands that pain and many chronic health conditions, can affect every aspect of our lives, often cutting us off from the life we want to live. Henry brings this understanding to each patient with respect and integrity.
Henry’s therapeutic approach integrates gentle acupuncture techniques with diagnostic precision to create a comfortable and effective treatment. In addition to acupuncture, moxibustion, cupping and tui na massage, Henry also draws on herbal therapy for stubborn conditions, combining Chinese and Western traditions to find the safest and most affordable course of treatment.
Henry graduated from the Institute of Traditional Medicine in 2013 with a Diploma of Acupuncture and Eastern Herbal Medicine. Following clinical placements at Urban Wellness Clinic, Repromed, and People With AIDS Foundation, Henry spent a year in Beijing to study with the internationally renowned Dr. Wang Ju-yi, an acupuncturist and scholar with over 50 years of clinical experience.
