Insurance Coverage
Extended Healthcare Coverage
Massage therapy, shiatsu, reflexology, and acupuncture treatments are often covered by extended medical expense under your employee benefits. When you call, inform us that you need a certain type of therapist for the coverage.
If you have employee benefits, please find out the following before you make your appointments.
Some insurance policy only covers certain types of treatments.
Examples of insurance coverage:
- Massage therapy done by a registered massage therapist
- Acupuncture
- Shiatsu treatments
- Reflexology
Insurance policies have coverage limits either on a per-visit basis, annual basis, or both.
Example of coverage limits
- A treatment that exceeds $50
- A treatment up to $50 per visit
- Total of $500.00 in a year
Some insurance companies require a medical receipt for each of your visits while others require an official medical statement at the end of a year. Please tell us about your requirements!
We will issue a medical receipt and/or statement upon request. Please inform us at the reception. We do not bill your insurance company directly.
Medical Expenses Tax Credit
The medical expense tax credit applies to individuals who have sustained significant medical expenses for themselves or certain of their dependants.
An individual may claim a non-refundable tax credit for medical expenses. The amount of the medical expense tax credit is determined by multiplying the lowest personal tax rate percentage by the amount of qualifying medical expenses in excess of certain minimum amounts. An individual may be entitled to receive a refundable medical expense tax credit in respect of the same medical expenses for which a medical expense tax credit was claimed.
Medical Receipts & Statements
All our medical receipts are issued by individual therapists, whose practices are regulated by their own profession. Therefore, we DO NOT issue medical receipts for gift certificates or book coupons since we need a treatment record for each medical receipt.
ATTENTION WALK-IN CLIENTS:
If you require a medical receipt, please ask the receptionist at each visit.
Medical Statements for Appointment-Based Clients
It requires approximately 5 business days to issue statements for appointment-based treatments; please allow enough time to generate medical statements. Charges vary depending on the statement for appointment-based clients.
Medical Statements for Walk-In Clients
It would require more time to gather all information for walk-in sessions since we do not have a medical record for each visit. Charges vary depending on the medical statement request for Walk-In clients.
We do not keep medical records for our walk-in sessions, unless otherwise requested. Please inform us on your first visit to avoid any future complications.
